The HR team at the USPI Home Office is made up of 10 team members who are passionate about providing great customer service to the leaders of the 220 plus USPI facilities in the US. The HR team helps USPI surgery center and surgical hospital leaders in resolving HR issues efficiently, so that they can focus on the USPI mission to treat each and every one of our patients, and their families, as if they were our own family member. This team is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist (ERS) who will embody the idea that leadership is customer service and will utilize their knowledge and skills to make an impact while being recognized and rewarded for their effort.
The Employee Relations Specialist:
Will act as a liaison between Field Leadership, Home Office (Legal, HR, Benefits) and outside counsel (as needed) for guidance on employee decisions that have potential legal ramifications and to research and resolve more complicated employee issues that cannot be resolved at the facility level. Build field leadership skills and knowledge to increase capability in the area of performance management and employee relations.
Provide guidance regarding coaching, counseling and disciplinary actions while enforcing USPI’s policies and procedures.
Coordinate and resolve issues that involve the field, HR, Legal and Payroll/Benefits
Build field leadership capability to manage performance issues through coaching and training
Identify common deficiencies in people management skills, leave and other workplace benefits and rights administration, develop/implement appropriate company-wide training and reference materials.
Serve as a resource to the field relative to infrequent leave and other benefits questions to comply with state-specific requirements.
Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of professional level Human Resources or facility health care operations experience
Ability to conduct investigations and make recommendations as required
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels, manage conflict, and exercise sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Labor relations experience preferred but not required
