Under direct supervision of the Human Resource Director, the Human Resource Coordinator is responsible for the administrative support of day-to-day human resource operations.
EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
* Greets departmental visitors and answers incoming calls. * Files documents into appropriate employee files. * Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions. * Prepares new employee files. * Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions. * Processes mail. * Posts job openings and updates job descriptions as needed. * Completes Form I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files. * Assists with processing invoices and purchase orders for payment. * Assists with the new employee and volunteer background checks. * Assists with bank statement reconciliations. * Assists with audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs. * Prepares the packet of new hire orientation materials. Assists with conducting new hire orientation.
* Performs administrative duties such as setting meetings for the Director, scheduling training classes, proofreading documents, ordering office supplies, and data entry. * Compiles and creates forms, charts, statements, confidential reports, letters, memos, and other various departmental reports. * Works with department’s internal application system for applicant tracking and onboarding as well as tracking EEOC data. * Responds to survey requests and employment verifications. * Provides assistance to HR staff as needed. * Special assignments as determined by Director of Human Resources. * Other duties as may be assigned.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. No travel is expected for this position.
DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years office/administrative experience preferably in Human Resources including employment, benefits, compensation, workers compensation, payroll, etc.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other departments, city officials and the general public.
Ability to accurately type 50 WPM.
Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to file alphabetically and numerically.
Ability to operate other office equipment including PC, the copying machine, calculator, postage machine, printers, etc.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Requires office skills to handle customer service/communications (internal and external), file organization and management, computer skills including data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and graphics software, mathematical computation. Report and letter preparation, and decision making within the scope of responsibility.
