The Human Resources Intern will assist the Human Resources Department with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, employee benefits, payroll, etc. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest, and apply them in a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play, and be better prepared to work in the arena of human resources. Expected work week no more than 30 hours per week.
Duties will be wide and varied, based on the needs of the operation, but include the following:
Assist with human resources-related activities to ensure compliance with all applicable Company policies/procedures and state and Federal regulations (e.g., Affirmative Action/EEO, ADA, FMLA, Fair Labor Standards Act and wage & hour regulations)
Develop and maintain departmental reports, records, and employee files, including use of the human resources information system
Assist in developing and revising policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned from time to time by management.
Assist with mail outs.
Assist in preparing materials for presentations.
Photocopy and scan documents.
Coordination of meeting arrangements.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of human resources-related policies, practices, regulations, and laws.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of human resources and benefits information.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with other Departments.
Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and successfully accomplish multiple tasks/projects.
Strong proficiency with Excel and Word for Windows.
Ability to learn and use new software.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and working towards college degree. This program is designed for students who are currently enrolled in college, working on their degree plan.
