Prepares new hire paperwork, conversions and separation paperwork for employees; maintains confidential personnel files; maintains and updates employee data information in the employee files; answers telephones, verifies employment status; assists employees in benefits enrollment; prepares and processes employee payroll; performs secretarial functions and assists in special projects.

Human Resources Responsibilities (70%)
Completes all employment action documentation for Corps employees including but not limited to new hire, background checks, E-Verify, classification changes, and separation, FMLA, and workers compensation.
Prescreens and interviews applicants for prospective employment; assists the Corps Officers with all aspects of the recruitment process as requested by the Corps Officers.
Conducts new hire orientation for new employees; explains policies, procedures, and mission statement to all new employees; completes and maintains employment files for employees.
Ensures paperwork is submitted to DHQ Human Resources for review and approval by the Divisional Finance Board in a timely manner.
Completes and submits paperwork for Christmas Seasonal employees to DHQ Human Resources, ensures that all paperwork is completed, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.
Communicates and enforces The Salvation Army policies and procedures; provides training and orientation to employees on benefits, such as insurance, pension, vacation; ensures that employees benefits are processed and monitored accurately.
Instructs and trains employees in proper methods and procedures; processes performance evaluations.
Prepares and distributes employment verification correspondence confirming past employee's date of employment, position and title; ensures that employment verifications are conducted within departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains an up-to-date list of approved drivers.
Maintains reports of all accidents on premises; serves as liaison to public liability insurance and workers compensation insurance.
Receives and responds to questions or problems regarding the office operations; researches information in order to provide information or resolve problems in a timely manner.
Payroll Responsibilities (15%)
Provides assistance in performing routine audits; prepares audit work papers; assembles and prepares records for presentation to auditor; answers auditor questions as necessary; prepares a response to items in the audit report.
Administrative Responsibilities (15%)
Prepares and processes correspondence, statistics, check requests, forms, lists, notices, bulletins, agendas, schedules, minutes, manuals, etc.; ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the same.
Prepares and maintains office records, reports, calendars, databases, journals, books, logs, lists, etc. in an accurate, complete, and timely manner; updates, posts and indexes information and inputs data into the computer to maintain office records; researches office files to locate specific information found in documents, correspondence, lists, forms, etc. in order to prepare specific reports.
Distributes information regarding Salvation Army services, programs, conferences, seminars, etc. in an accurate and timely manner; compiles mailing lists and ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
Compiles information for booklets, kits, notebooks, etc. for conferences, seminars, and meetings.
Performs various clerical and support work associated with special projects, seasonal events, conference and committee meetings; assists in coordinating arrangements and volunteers for the Christmas Kettle Program.
Performs routine filing of a variety of correspondence, forms, cards, records, reports, and documents; maintains and utilizes the bring-up filing system; ensures the files are maintained in an organized and efficient manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. required
Two years experience in working in a professional office environment, with prior
experience in human resources preferred,
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language effectively. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints.
Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment and exercise confidentiality.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.)
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
