Labor Relations Manager

America's largest family-owned new and used book retailer, Half Price Books, is seeking to add a Labor Relations Manager to its in-house Human Resources Department at our Corporate Headquarters in Dallas, TX.  Candidates should enjoy a diverse and challenging environment and must be able to multi-task and work collaboratively with various corporate departments, executives, and field management. Responsibilities include participating in collective bargaining negotiations and providing support and guidance to corporate and field management as it relates to HPB’s union locations and the Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) governing those locations.  Leads grievance procedures including arbitrations and assists all levels of management on labor matters.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• BS/BA degree plus 6-10 years of applicable experience in Labor Relations
• Strong background in collective bargaining negotiations, reviewing/modifying proposals, and administering/managing Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA)
• Experience leading the grievance and arbitration process
• Employee relations and labor management experience in both union and non-union environments required
• 5 plus years of administrative management experience
• Knowledge of all applicable government laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills required
• Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
• HRCI and/or SHRM certification, preferred
• UKG (formerly Ultimate Software) experience is a plus
