Summary: Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP, People Services and Belonging is responsible for ensuring that The Family Place (TFP) attracts and retains top talent who expertly advances the agency’s mission. 

This critical executive leadership role is responsible for developing and executing human capital strategies including recruiting, employee relations, total rewards, culture and belonging initiatives, succession planning, talent and change enablement, organizational and performance management, and training and development. The VP, People Services and Belonging  will serve as a key partner to the CEO and senior member of the executive team collaborating to develop and foster a work environment aligned with The Family Place’s (TFP’s) core values, strategic plan, and to define the organizations long-term mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the overall assessment of TFP’s organizational culture and development, including development of strategies that foster high performance, teamwork, and desired retention rates.
• Lead talent management and strategy-focused planning activities for the agency, including workforce planning, organizational design, talent/succession planning, and change management.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement a pipeline of strong and collaborative leaders, including succession planning, and organizing monthly leadership training and employee resource groups.
• Provide oversight and implementation for all Belonging efforts and strategies; collaborate with leadership to design agency policies that evaluate and reinforce diversity, equity, and inclusivity through all personnel practices.
• Partner with executive leadership and oversee the ongoing review and tracking of the strategic plan goals and outcomes for all focus areas.
• Evaluate and oversee the agency’s performance management/review process to ensure best practices and timely evaluation and feedback for job performance.
• Collect and evaluate data including compensation, retention, turnover, diversity and use this analysis to collaborate with the CEO and executive leadership team to improve TFP and scale growth.
• Oversee, consult, and advise on employee relations and discipline matters, collaborating with general counsel when needed.
• Oversee benefits and payroll management, personnel manual, agency policies and procedures, and employee communications to ensure compliance, appropriateness, and value.
• Research and manage relationships with benefit vendors and executes employee benefit programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommends benefit programs to management; obtains and evaluates benefit contract bids; coordinates educational programs on benefits awareness.
• Oversee the 403b/457b retirement plans and submits RFPs for outside vendors; manages education for retirement plan, annual compliance meetings and collaborates with the CFO on recommended changes to the plan.
• Ensure the People Services Department is prepared for a pandemic or communicable diseases by working with the Executive Leadership team to ensure agency policies are created, implemented, and adhered to by staff to address issues surrounding the pandemic and temporary employment laws.
• Provide staff liaison to with (HCC) Human Capital Committee and Board of Directors on special projects such as compensation studies, risk management, training, policies, and procedures, etc.; schedules and coordinates monthly HCC meetings for members and prepares material for HCC Chairperson for Board of Director meetings.
• Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations regarding unemployment, workers’ compensation, and employment related laws.
• Other duties as designated by the president & CEO, or as required to assist in the needs of the agency. 

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred, in Human Resources Management or similar field and 5-7 years of experience working as a Sr. Director or CHRO in an agency with at least 100 or more employees.

Licenses and Certifications: PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred but not required

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of effective listening skills, facilitating meetings, interpersonal aptitude, leadership, management of staff and personnel administration.
• Knowledge of current employment laws.
• Knowledge and intermediate experience with MSOffice Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Knowledge and understanding of ATS Applicant Tracking and HRIS systems.
• Knowledge and understanding of LMS (learning management systems)
• Ability to work with employees, leadership team, donors and board members.
• Ability to set goals and objectives.
• Ability to present and facilitate training for agency.
• Ability to coach, train and mentor staff and program directors.
• Skilled at making quick and accurate decisions and communicating with a diverse population; meeting deadlines and schedules; working with detailed information; working on multiple projects and dealing with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Must be able to spend prolonged periods of time working on the computer and telephone; able to lift to 20 pounds on occasional basis and to 5 pounds on a frequent basis; able to travel throughout the offices to represent the department; able to work under constant deadlines and interruptions; able to meet predictable and consistent attendance standards.

Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs.).  Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
