POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Compensation and Benefits Specialist will provide essential support to the Human Resources team through the administration, analysis and action planning of compensation and benefits. This position with collaborate with HR management to ensure these programs align with the Company’s strategic objectives, support the attraction of top talent, maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and promote the well-being of our employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: may include any or all of the following.
Evaluate and assess job roles to determine appropriate job classifications and salary levels. Maintain job descriptions and ensure they accurately reflect the responsibilities and requirements of each position.
Conduct compensation surveys and benchmarking studies and support the Company’s compensation review through data analysis and documentation.
Participate with HR management in administering incentive and salary increase programs.
Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of new and continuing initiatives to ensure benefit offerings and contribution strategies remain market-competitive, sound financially, and legally compliant.
Develop and implement existing and on-going communication strategies to promote and educate employees on company health and welfare benefits.
Support annual benefits enrollment by preparing materials, organizing meetings, and addressing employee benefit inquiries.
Assist in administering leave processes for employees and maintaining leave policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Support employees by providing clarification and information about benefits and leave programs; assist employees with new hire benefits enrollment and life/status change events.
Conduct audits and assessments to ensure data integrity in the HR information system and data communications between benefit carriers; troubleshoot between system and carriers.
Maintain documentation related to compensation and benefits programs, including policies, procedures, and employee communications.
Assist in preparing materials such as presentations and training documents for various compensation and benefits related initiatives.
Coordinate with other HR team members to maintain and update employee records in the HR information system including benefits, compensation and other data.
Stay informed about changes in compensation and benefits laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
Assist with other compensation, benefit and HR related projects and programs as necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (COMPETENCY STATEMENTS):
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, assign, and coordinate a workload of assigned area and employees within a multiple project setting.
Proven interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, management, and contractors.
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, organization, time management, problem solving, and follow-up skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
Experience in the development, communication, facilitation, or support of compensation programs.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the industry, corporation and Company business and the ability to apply this knowledge to job responsibilities and organizational goals.
Proven ability to work independently and prepare as well as conduct presentations for all levels of management.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, confidential information and situations with tact and diplomacy, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, discretion and professionalism on all matters.
Ability to understand when to proceed alone and when to involve others.
Ability to take initiative in development and completion of projects.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
3+ years of experience in Compensation and Benefits administration.
Industry experience, preferred.
Computer skills:
Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
Familiarity with HR information systems.
Ability to create pivot tables and write formulas to include Vlookup, Xlookup, index, etc. in Excel.
Frequent use of advanced computer skills.
Certifications & Licenses:
Valid Driver’s License.
Various Compensation, Benefits, and Human Resources Certifications are a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position typically does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
